3 New Mindset Shifts I've Been Navigating (and One I'm Letting Go)
I've been feeling uninspired with my daily practices, not because they don’t work, but because my routine started feeling like a checklist rather than a source of nourishment.
As you can imagine, this has left very little room for creativity, play, and the deep presence I usually bring to my life.
In trying to pull myself out of this feeling of obligation, I've discovered some surprising new ways to shift from effort to ease.
If you're in a similar place and have been feeling a little disconnected from your usual grounding practices, you’re going to love this post. I’m sharing three things that have helped me move through the the ‘shoulder and musts’ - and one that I’m letting go of for good.
Hint: There's also one wellness thing I'm giving up even though many people swear by it. Can you guess what it might be?
Why is Navigating Change in Wellness So Important?
You may think you have your self-care and nervous system regulation all figured out, and that you don’t need to adjust when things feel off. But I can, hand on heart tell you that after working with hundreds of women, even the most nourishing practices can lose their potency if we don’t pause and reassess.
For example:
When my client, let’s call her Naomi, came to me, she was feeling emotionally drained despite following a structured wellness routine. She assumed she needed more discipline, (hello high achiever!) but through our work together, we discovered that what she really needed was to listen to her body and create space for rest without guilt. The result? She not only regained her energy but also started experiencing deeper peace in her daily life.
Want a similar transformation? You’re in luck! I created the Force to Flow Guide, designed to help you shift from forcing yourself through the low moments to finding ease.
#1: Letting Go of the "Perfect" Morning Routine
As perfectionists, we are often prone to believing that if we just stick to a structured routine, we’ll feel better. This in part is true. Sometimes we don’t feel like getting up and rolling out our mat, but afterwards we feel so much better. And it’s that feeling that keeps us going back morning after morning.
The problem comes in when we become rigid about our practice. I know for me, that meant clinging to my morning rituals even when they felt more like a chore than a source of peace.
Do you see where I've been going wrong?
By forcing a rigid structure, I was ignoring what my body and mind actually needed.
Instead, I’ve been embracing fluid mornings—some days, that means journaling, other days, it means sitting in silence with my tea. The result? A sense of spaciousness that allows me to meet each day with more presence.
Next time you feel resistant to your routine, why not try asking yourself what you truly need instead?
#2: Welcoming Rest Instead of Forcing Productivity
I know, just like you, I’ve felt guilty for slowing down. For years, I believed that if I just pushed a little harder, I'd regain my motivation.
Thankfully, I finally permitted myself to rest—deep, intentional, non-guilt-laden rest.
Here’s what I discovered when I stopped forcing myself to be productive:
My creativity returned effortlessly.
I was able to be more present in my relationships.
I stopped feeling resentful towards my work.
Ask yourself: What would happen if I let myself rest, fully and without guilt?
#3: Honouring My Energy Cycles
Silly to think that as a holistic coach, would ignore my own rhythms, but here I was, expecting myself to be in peak energy every single day.
- (Must be the dancer in me that truly believed that regardless of whooping cough, chicken pox and a torn ankle ligament, the show must go on. All true stories btw)
It dawned on me that I was treating my body like a machine instead of something dynamic and ever-changing.
So, I decided to honour my natural energy cycles—allowing for deep work when I feel inspired and stepping back when I need recovery. The result? I get more done with less stress and actually enjoy my work again.
If you've been pushing through fatigue, I encourage you to attune to your natural energy cycles and permit yourself to flow with them.

I've Given Up On Tracking Every Single Habit
Here’s what I’m not doing anymore: obsessively tracking my habits.
Through my work with intuitive wellness, I’ve realised that measuring every little thing—from meditation minutes to hydration levels—was actually adding to my stress rather than reducing it.
This means that I’ve given up on the need to measure my self-care in numbers. There is enough pressure in the world without turning wellness into another metric to optimise. Yes I track my sleep, HRV, RHR and cardio output when I’m training, but I try and leave the rest.
What I do instead:
I check in with how I feel rather than how much I do.
I trust that my body will guide me if I listen.
I focus on presence rather than performance.
This shift has been game-changing, and I invite you to consider whether your tracking systems are truly serving you.
You can create more ease in your life when you recognise that wanting to change things up doesn’t mean that the practices themselves are failing you—this is an invitation to adjust, listen, and honour where you are.
There are so many ways to navigate the dips, and I hope this post has given you some new ideas to try.
Is there a main takeaway that resonated with you? Let me know
Everything I do is about helping you move through the life with more grace and self-trust.
